What Appliances Do You Need First When Remodeling?
Nothing dates a kitchen more than
having obsolete appliances. Harvest gold and avocado green are long gone
as the colors of choice in the kitchen and stainless steel has moved in as the
front runner. But knowing what colors are en vogue doesn’t mean you know
everything about appliances, does it? When remodeling your kitchen, its
important to know which appliances you will need first. Let’s take a look at what you will need for your kitchen remodel, shall we?
Reach
for a Refrigerator
The
refrigerator is undoubtedly the workhorse of the kitchen. It is the most used
out of all the appliances, with each person in your household opening it an
average of 5-10 times per day. Your refrigerator not only keeps your food cold
and fresh, it is going to see lots of wear and tear and needs to be one of the
first things you consider replacing in your remodel. As with most things on the
market today, there are a range of products catering to different lifestyles.
For example, for families with small children, it might behoove them to get a
stainless steel finish that is “fingerprint less” rather than those
that seem to attract little hands. If you are a single person that doesn’t cook
at home a lot then a huge refrigerator will just mean bigger energy bills than
you are used to, and won’t really serve a greater purpose. Refrigerators today
have features such as drink/ice dispensers, meat/fruit/vegetable drawers to
keep things fresh, and removable/ adjustable shelves to help control spills and
make the most of your space.
Striving
for a Stove and Oven
Stoves
and ovens can last decades if you treat them well. That’s why your old stove
might still function properly, even if it looks like it belongs in a time
machine. When remodeling your kitchen, your stove and oven are going to be what
you use for cooking night after night, so you don’t want to be
without a state of the art one for too long. Stoves and ovens come in both gas
and electric. While electric stoves are usually cheaper to buy, they are
also the most expensive to operate. When homeowners replace their
ovens, many of them insist on a convection oven as it cooks your food 25%
faster than a regular oven, saving time and money.
Dying
for a Dishwasher
Once
the mainstays of a refrigerator and a stove/oven are chosen, many people opt to
purchase a new dishwasher next. When shopping for a dishwasher, you want to be
concerned about noise, speed and efficiency. There are many models that now
have the energy star rating and for cosmetic purposes it is possible to add a
panel to the front of the dishwasher to match your kitchen cabinets.
